These instruments have historical roots dating back to the 1840s, where musicians crafted them from cigar boxes, broom handles, and three strings. contemporary versions, like the one pictured, are a revival of this vintage American instrument. Typically made with a cigar box-style body, a neck with fret markers, and three strings. The body may be constructed from coated cardboard or durable plastic. Designed for playing slide guitar, producing sounds similar to a steel guitar. It includes a pickup for amplification. The guitar produces an authentic blues sound and can be used with or without an amplifier.
